A university was chartered within 1963 as a personal quadruplet-month liberal arts college known as Saginaw Valley College (SVC). SVC became section of the state-supported rules of colleges inside 1965. It was renamed Saginaw Valley State College inside 1975 & became Saginaw Valley State University in 1987.
